Sponsor Story: Christopher Togawa Insurance Agency (CTIA)

Hi Chris! Can you tell us about your business? What do you do and where are you located?
We’re a small local insurance agency that focuses on supporting individuals and families with their insurance needs. We specialize in auto, home, and umbrella insurance, and our office is located on the North side of Queen Anne Hill. 

How long have you sponsored QALL teams?
I started with an AA Baseball team in 2006, and moved to AAA Baseball a few years ago, and now have a Majors Baseball team. There were actually no open sponsorship spots when I signed up, so I had to wait a year to get my first team.

What made you want to begin sponsoring?
We were all kids once, and it made me reflect on the sponsors that supported our youth sports in our childhood. I was really driven to be one of those sponsors. In those days, it was Kiwanis, VFW, and the Lions Club. Sponsors support an outlet for youth sports, and I can’t think of a better way to give back.

Did you play any sports growing up or now?
As a kid, I played just about everything; I’ve always loved team sports. I’ve played a lot of adult men’s softball. Now, I golf as much as I can and I also teach a spin class two days a week.

What are your favorite professional sports teams?
I am a lifelong Seattleite and as big a sports fan as you can be. I love to attend several Mariners and Kraken games, and all of the Seahawks home games throughout the year.

Tough one: Who is your favorite Mariners player, past or present?Julio Rodriguez is my favorite current player; he’s such a budding talent. I’m so excited to see who he becomes as a professional player. The sky is the limit for him. But who doesn’t have Junior or Ichiro on their all-time favorites list?

What do you love about being part of the Queen Anne community?
I’m so loyal to this community. I came to Queen Anne for the first time in high school to visit friends, and I realized I loved this neighborhood so much that I promised myself I’d live here someday. The feeling I had about the community then is the same way I feel now. It’s small enough that there’s a great neighborhood feel to it, and I love supporting all of the other small businesses. Seattle has so many amazing neighborhoods and there are a lot of passionate residents in them – Queen Anne just feels like home to me.
