Leone & Vaughn come up short against Madison Carnolia Cleaners

The defensive prowess of Sophie Berkley on the mound, as well as heads-up play by centerfielder Katie Howard working in concert with second base’s Serena Baserman quieted the big bats of the MCC at the top of the first. The L&V Blue Sox’s Grace Cropp parleyed a base on balls into an infield roundtrip, ticking one for the home team at the bottom of the frame. Yet the golden arm of the visitor’s Lauren King proved nearly unstoppable as she fanned L&V batters and provided few unearned runs. The Blue Sox bats came alive in the third however, and with a two run single rapped by Noel Witt, the home team was back on the boards. Unearned runs and a Berkley RBI to third netted even more, yet the late surge was not enough to propel the Blue Sox past the Cleaners.
