Crash Shop Gets Flushed

(May 3) The cold, damp day did nothing to cool off the hot Plunger bats as Fischer Plumbing smacked the ball around in a solid win over Werner’s 16 – 0.

The offense was sparked by rookie Lino Marioni’s break out three hits and three RBI’s.

“That was a blast”, rejoiced Marioni. “I tried to bunt D-Lo (David Loeb) to second but missed twice so I swung away and got some good aluminum on the ball. We got a run on the hit so it all worked out. It’s great to contribute to the team”.

Gabriel Ingraham-Brown ripped a single left on a 3 – 1 fastball to start the hit parade in the top of the second. He later scored on a past ball after stealing second and third.

“Their starter had some heat on the ball”, said Ingraham-Brown. “He was bringing it but he caught too much of the plate when I hit my single. I knew he had to come in at three and one”.

Starter James Overly pitched four innings of shutout, no hit baseball striking out nine Test Shop hitters along the way. Nicholas Nishi closed the game by striking out the side.

Other big hits included Nishi’s two RBI double to right center, and Jack McLeod’s two solid hits including the longest single ever seen in AAA baseball.

“I thought I stepped on first base”, chuckled McLeod. I was almost at second when coach (first base coach Jim Grane) hollered that I missed the bag. Of course coach Nishi at third was waving me to third at the same time. It all worked out when I scored on a bases loaded walk”.

For their prowess at the plate, game balls were awarded to Marioni and Ingraham-Brown.
