(April 26) Starter Isle Raftery and reliever James Overly kept EileenBurke.com at bay scattering four hits and striking out fourteen enroute to a decisive 10 – 2 victory for Fischer Plumbing.
Outfielder David Loeb sounded off after the game, “Our pitching has been impressive. It can be tough to stay focused when they’re striking everyone out, but we have to be ready to make plays. Only one ball made it past the infield. I was glad I was able to wear my game shades today. It was nice”!
The Plungers plated three in the first and one more in the second before erupting for six runs in the final two frames. The late game onslaught was powered by catcher Jack McLeod’s solid single to left followed by Overly’s rip to the same spot. They both scored the final two Plunger runs.
The Lenders started to make some noise in the bottom half of the sixth with two runs but were shut down thereafter.
Overly was excited getting the final out of the game on a grounder back to the mound. “Us pitchers have confidence in the guys behind us. Our job is to throw strikes and we know our team will make the plays to get outs. We’re also starting to swing the bats. It’s a team effort and everyone contributes”.
Game balls were awarded to McLeod and Overly.
