Little League International has strict rules about players' eligibility to play in a particular local league - you must reside within a league's boudaries, as defined by Little League, in order for your child to play in that league.
In order to play in Queen Anne Little League, a player must currently reside on Queen Anne, as bounded by 15th Avenue West on the west, the Ship Canal to the north, the western shore of Lake Union and Westlake Avenue to Stewart Street on the east, and the shore of Elliot Bay and Stewart Street to the south. A simple map of QALL's boundaries is printed below. For a more detailed map and boundary description,
click here, or if you aren't sure of your proper league and want to determine which league in our District your residence falls within,
click here (use the "Find My League" address finder on the left of the page).
Under certain circumstances, players whose families have moved off of Queen Anne may be eligible to get a
waiver to allow them to continue playing in QALL. To be eligible fo the waiver, you must have lived within QALL boundaries at the time your child first played in QALL. In order to get the waiver, you must present to league and district administrators sufficient proof of your current and last Queen Anne residence. For more information about what kind of residential proofs are required, please
click here or contact QALL Player Agent
Pete Livengood with your particular circumstances for assistance. Once a child has a waiver on file with QALL and our District Administrator, he or she will be eligible to play in QALL as long as he or she does so continuously, year-to-year, and that player's younger siblings will also be eligible for a waiver to play in QALL.
General age eligibility & level of play
QALL offers programs for Tee-ball (5 and 6 year-olds), Minor League baseball and softball (7-11 year olds), Major League baseball and softball (10-12 year-olds), Juniors baseball and softball (13-14 year-olds), and Seniors (15-16 year olds) and Big League (17-18 year olds) baseball. For Tee Baseball and baseball (girls and boys), "league age" is determined by a player's age as of April 30, 2010. For softball, "league age" is determined by a player's age as of December 31, 2009.
QALL offers the following levels of play:
Baseball
Minors - All divisions of Minor League baseball are open to both boys and girls. This year, QALL will have minor league baseball divisions for Tee-Ball (5 and 6 year olds), Rookie League (7 and 8 year-olds), Central League (8 and 9 year-olds), and Coast League (10 and 11 year olds.)These league divisions are general guidelines. Actual placement of players will be determined at the time of evaluations. Please see note at the bottom of this page regarding eligibility of 6 year olds to play baseball or softball.
Majors - QALL's Major League baseball division is open to boys and girls age 10 through 12.
Juniors - QALL's Junior baseball division is open to boys and girls who are 13 and 14 years old. With the permission of the QALL Board and Player Agent Pete Livengood, 12 year-olds may be allowed to "play up" in the Junior division but may not play in both the Majors division and the Junior division (in either regular-season or post-season All Star play) in the same season.
Seniors - QALL's Senior baseball division is open to boys and girls who are 15 and 16 years old. With the permission of the QALL Board and Player Agent Pete Livengood , 14 year-olds may be allowed to "play up" in the Senior division but may not play in both the Junior division and the Senior division (in either regular-season or post-season All Star play) in the same season.
Big League - QALL's Big League baseball division is open to boys and girls who are 17 and 18 years old. With the permission of the QALL Board and Player Agent Pete Livengood , 16 year-olds may be allowed to "play up" in the Big League division but may not play in both the Senior division and the Big League division (in either regular-season or post-season All Star play) in the same season. Big League baseball generally starts later in the season, following the end of the High School baseball season, in mid-May, and extends further into the summer than do lower baseball divisions.
Softball
Minors - QALL softball minors include a AA division (for girls ages 7 and 8, with some six and nine year-olds), and AAA (for girls ages 9 and 10, with some eight and eleven year-olds).
Majors - QALL's Major League softball division is mostly for girls ages 11 and 12, with some ten year-olds.
Juniors - QALL's Junior softball division is for girls who are 13 and 14 years old. With the permission of the QALL Board and Player Agent Pete Livengood, 12 year-olds may be allowed to "play up" in the Junior division but may not play in both the Majors division and the Junior division (in either regular-season or post-season All Star play) in the same season.
Because of historical lack of interest, QALL currently does not offer softball programs in the Senior or Big League divisions. Girls older than 14 who wish to play at those levels should contact QALL Player Agent Pete Livengood or Vice President for Softball Brent Howard to see if there is an older team being fielded within our District on which she might be placed.
Unless a legacy-rostered player at the Majors level, all baseball players under the age of 13 must be evaluated by QALL coaches to to determine their appropriate level of play (Tee-ball players do not need to be evaluated). Similarly, except for legacy-rostered players at the Majors level, softball players between the ages of 8 and 12 (and 6 year-olds who wish to play AA softball - see below) must also be evaluated. Players at the Juniors level or above in both baseball and softball are not evaluated.
QALL evaluations will be held February 6, 2010 and February 7, 2010 (a location and full schedule of evaluation times will be posted at a later date). A player’s age, evaluations and the results of QALL player drafts (with the input of QALL Player Agent Pete Livengood) will determine a given player’s level of play.
Eligibility of 6-year-olds to play baseball or softball
The eligibility of 6-year-olds to play baseball or softball is qualified. By Little League rule, they must have previously played one year of organized Tee-ball. By QALL rule, they must additionally be evaluated at the QALL evaluations to ensure that they have sufficient size and ability to play safely and successfully with older children. Following evaluation, only 6 year-olds who have been recommended for baseball or softball by the QALL Player Agent (in consultation with the Tee-Ball and Minors Commissioners) will be considered eligible for drafting to a baseball or softball team, and only those actually drafted will be allowed to play. It is important to remember that Tee-ball is designed for 5 and 6 year olds and it will be the exception when a 6 year old plays baseball or softball over Tee-ball.
