Softball evaluation schedule

Saturday February 4, 2012, Coe School Gym

Girls of softball age will be evaluated so that QALL coaches can place each child on the appropriate team.  Kids who have signed up for teeball do not need to attend evaluations.  12- and 13- year old girls do not need to attend evaluations, but we would greatly appreciate if these older girls can show up and help run drills to evaluate the younger girls.

Softball evaluations will be conducted in two age groups to minimize wait times.

Girls 9 and younger will be evaluated from 8:30 to 9:30 AM (please arrive no later than 9:00 - the earlier you arrive, the shorter the line will be).

10 and 11 year old girls will be evaluated between 9:30 and 10:30 AM (arrive no later than 10:00.

Evaluations will be in the Coe Elementary School cafeteria.  The evaluation consists of the following stations: 1) throw-catch (warming up), 2) pop-ups and fielding, 3) throwing (pitching) to catcher, 4) hitting off tee, and 5) timed running.  Each child should bring a glove and wear gym shoes.  We hope that evaluations will go quickly, and most kids should be in and out in 20 minutes or so.

Bring a well broken-in glove and wear gym shoes.

Players 10 or older should expect that their evaluation will take 15 minutes.  9s and younger will take around 7 minutes once their name is called.

The evaluation consists of the following stations: 1) throw-catch (warming up), 2) pop-ups and fielding, 3) throwing (pitching) to catcher, 4) hitting off tee, and 5) timed running.

We strongly recommend attending the Saturday Evaluations.  Makeups are scheduled for the basement of Seattle Fast Pitch (old QA High School gym at the corner of Galer and North 2nd) on Thursday, February 9th from 6:30 to 8PM.  Players (league age 10-12) who wish to play in Majors will have an additional evaluation at Seattle Fast Pitch (main floor) that same day from 5-9PM.

Volunteer Umpires Needed!!!!

Have you always thought that chest protectors and face masks

might be a good look on you?   Ever wondered what it would be like to “call

‘em like you see ‘em,” or to yell “yeeeeer out!”  Do you have a love for the game and want to

give back to the Little League program or to your neighborhood?  Good news, then -- Queen Anne Little League

is looking for you.

Due to the normal ebb and flow of volunteers, QALL needs to swell the ranks of its officiating corps this spring.  New volunteers will have the opportunity to become a part of a group that is recognized throughout the Little League district for its high caliber of officials. And if you’ve never umped before, no worries.  QALL will send umpires to training, and will provide all officials with uniforms and access to gear (i.e. face, shin and chest protection) so that you need not buy your own.

Anyone interested in officiating should contact Queen Anne Little League’s Brent Howard at bhoward.ump15@comcast.net to get set up with paperwork and schedules.
